Helmets vs. Headsets… The Rise of The Esports Era

Date: Wednesday, November 20

Location: The Hurt Hub@Davidson

Time: 5:00-7:30 pm

As technology continues to enter every realm of modern life, will we be trading helmets and rackets for headsets and video game controls? eSports is on the rise.

In a recent report, Goldman Sachs notes, "With one of the fastest-growing fan bases in pro sports, a youthful global audience that’s already larger than Major League Baseball’s and top players who are quickly joining the ranks of millionaires — eSports have entered the mainstream. "

We'll tackle this emerging industry from different perspectives with a focus on opportunities. What sorts of investments are being made? How are players monetizing what was once considered a hobby? And what sort of startups are spinning out from the recent rise of eSports?

Casey Smith, Private Client Advisor at Bank of America, will kick-off the night by contextualizing the eSports industry with a particular focus on eSports investing.

John Brock and Jeff Brokaw, two rock-star Charlotte entrepreneurs, will serve on our panel. John is co-owner of Team Envy (a leading eSports organization), an angel investor and owner of Tabbris (a coworking and innovation center). Jeff is the owner of the Charlotte Phoenix (a professional eSports organization), founder of Tabbris and an active venture capitalist. Both bring a wealth of eSports knowledge, especially within the Charlotte ecosystem.

Also joining the panel is Bill Freeman, CEO of Pureskill.gg, an AI coach that analyzes eSports players. An avid gamer, Bill is an entrepreneur with a PhD in physics.

Join us for Infinite Possibilities on November 20, to learn about the past, present, and future of the eSports industry!
